Manakara, a quiet and peaceful town, known for its natural landscapes such as its long beaches lined with coconut trees; and also for its historical and cultural heritage inherited from the French colonization, which, has prospered thanks to its port activities. The construction of the port dates from 1936, as well as the railway line.
Manakara is specialized in the manufacture of the famous Antemoro paper, hence its population which comes from the Antemoro ethnic group.
